Africa’s climate, while diverse, exhibits some uniformity due to their closeness to the equator. Temperatures however, vary significantly depending on factors like altitude and nearness to the equator.

In East Africa, July and August are generally considered the winter months although the temperatures remain warm in most areas.

  • Inland Highlands

Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya is located in the central highlands. It has cooler temperatures compared to the coastal regions.

  • Coastal climate

The Kenyan Coast offers stunning beaches and warm clear waters ideal for swimming and water sports.

The Coastal climate tends to be hot and humid especially during the rainy seasons April to June and October to December.

Recommendation-stay hydrated, use sunscreen, and seek shade during the hottest parts of the day.

  • Rift Valley and Savannah

The Rift Valley region and vast savannahs including Maasai Mara, Amboseli National Park, Samburu National Park have a semi arid climate with hot days and cool nights.

Rainfall in these areas are more periodic with a short rainy season from October to December.
