An incredibly unique opportunity, embarking on a Hot Air Balloon ride over the expansive Masai Mara plains offers an unforgettable experience during your safari in Maasai Mara. The balloon sets off at daybreak, approximately 6am, gliding quietly above the grassy savannah where you may catch glimpses of diverse wildlife below. The flight lasts about an hour and culminates with a delightful “Champagne Bush Breakfast” at the balloon’s landing spot in the wild. A skilled and experienced Pilot navigates the balloon which is typically crafted by Cameron, a renowned hot air balloon specialist based in Great Britain. Basket sizes vary, so it’s advisable to reserve your spot early as space is usually limited to a maximum of 16 passengers per balloon or fewer for smaller baskets.

Passengers are required to be at their Lodge or Camp reception desks by 5 to 5.30am, depending on the distance from the take-off location. A road transfer will pick you up and transport you to the launch site, where the flight usually takes off between 6.00 to 6.15am. Throughout the journey, you will soar over different areas of the Mara reserve. After landing approximately an hour later, a delectable seated breakfast is served by attentive staff in a bush setting, complete with hot dishes and chilled sparkling wine or champagne. Following breakfast, guests are driven back to their lodge/camp immediately after a brief game drive along the way.
