Depart from your hotel in Mombasa early in the morning, around 6-7 AM.
During the drive, enjoy the scenic views as you transition from the coastal region to the savanna landscape of Tsavo East National Park (approximately 3-4 hours).
Arrive at Tsavo East National Park and check in at one of the camps/lodges and take some time to relax and settle in.
Embark on a morning game drive in Tsavo East, keeping an eye out for the iconic “red elephants” as well as other wildlife such as lions, leopards, giraffes, and a variety of antelope species.
Enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the designated spots within the park surrounded by the lush vegetation and wildlife of the Savanna
After lunch, continue your exploration of Tsavo East by embarking on another game drive.
During this drive, you may want to visit some of the park’s key attractions, such as:
Aruba Dam, a popular watering hole for wildlife
Yatta Plateau, the world’s longest lava flow
Mudanda Rock, a unique geological formation
As the day winds down, enjoy the stunning African sunset over the savanna.
In the evening return to your camp/lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Tsavo East National Park To Tsavo West National Park
Wake up early to enjoy a morning game drive. Keep an eye out for the park’s diverse wildlife, including the iconic “red elephants,” lions, leopards, and a variety of antelope species.
Return to your accommodation for a hearty breakfast.
Check out of your Tsavo East accommodation and begin the journey to Tsavo West National Park, which is approximately a 2-hour drive (around 80 km).
Along the way, you may want to consider making a stop in the town of Mtito Andei for a sumptuous lunch and to stretch your legs.
Arrive at Tsavo West National Park and check in at one of the camps/lodges.
Embark on an afternoon game drive in Tsavo West, known for its diverse landscapes and wildlife, including the Mzima Springs.
Some key attractions to look for in Tsavo West include:
Chaimu Crater
Shetani Lava Flow
Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary
Head towards the Mzima Springs area, keeping an eye out for wildlife along the way. Take in the lush, oasis-like atmosphere of the Mzima Springs
Drive towards the Chaimu Crater area, scanning the surroundings for elephants, giraffes, and other herbivores.
In the evening return to your accommodation and savor a delicious dinner while reflecting on the day’s wildlife encounter.
Day 3: Tsavo West National Park to Mombasa
Wake up to an early morning game drive. This is the best time to observe the wildlife as the animals are more active during this time.
Return to your camp/lodge for a hearty breakfast.
Depart Tsavo West in the morning and head back to Mombasa (approximately 4-5 hours).
Along the way, you may consider making a stop at the Mtito Andei Wildlife Conservancy to stretch your legs and spot some wildlife.
Arrive at your beach resort or hotel in Mombasa in the early afternoon.
Spend the rest of the day relaxing on the beach, exploring the Old Town, or visiting Haller Park.
Enjoy a seafood dinner and watch the sunset over the Indian Ocean.
